Palworld – Ingot Farming Tips

How to Get a Lot Amounts of Iron

Unlock a grapple gun as soon as you can. They make it much easier, because you can move yourself by grappling even if you’re 2000 pounds (or 15,000 pounds) overweight.

There are specific locations that reliably spawn ore nodes. The Desolate Church is convenient it’s a low-threat area (maybe you’ll meet an aggressive low-level rushboar), there’s a fast-travel point right in front of the church, there are consistently eight ore nodes behind it that’ll respawn a day after you mine them out, there’s an Anubis statue inside the church itself and sometimes there’ll be a low-tier unlocked chest in front of the statue.

e.g. I’ll fast-travel in with my refined-metal pickaxe, check the chest spawn, then head behind the church to mine out all eight ore nodes using my grappling gun to move from node to node (and later, back to the fast-travel point) once I’m carrying too much to move significantly otherwise. This yields 320 ore, enough for 160 regular ingots. Later on, you’ll still need ore for refined metal ingots (2 ore, 2 coal) and pal metal ingots (4 ore, 2 palladium fragments).

A mining base can provide some passive mining, but you may find it useful to do manual mining yourself as well once you’re at the refined-metal stage (a refined-metal pickaxe in near-100% condition can not only mine out all eight ore nodes at the church pretty quickly, but mine out at least three others — a mix of coal and ore — before needing to be repaired). If you’re using (non-refined) metal pickaxes to manually mine the church, you may just want to bring two such pickaxes and switch between them, and then repair them both at your base; IIRC, a regular metal pickaxe will need repair before you can mine out all eight.

There are better spots for a mining base than the church (which isn’t a great spot for a base, in so far as it has limited flat area to build and there’s a fast-travel point anyway); i.e. I recall spotting some areas that have both quite a bit of ore and some coal in the desert in the NE. That’s a higher-tier zone, though.

Note: Desolate Church, not Decrepit Church. I keep mixing those words for some reason.
