Cities: Skylines II – Best Performance Boost Tip

For this game right now, anyway.

How to Boost Performance

Set the game’s app priority to higher than the default Normal. This will put it ahead of the usual stuff your computer does in the background and eliminates quite a few hiccups and jerks during gameplay. And it isn’t hard to do.

  • Start Cities.
  • Start Task Manager (Start icon in lower left of taskbar and find it – or right-click your taskbar and it is in the list).
  • Go to the Details tab.
  • Find Cities2.exe and right-click it.
  • Go to Set Priority and tell it High or Above Normal.

Additionally, you can set it’s affinity as well so that it won’t run on core 0 or core 1 which where your computer tends to run all those background tasks all the time.

Now when you play, there should be fewer hiccups, less stutter, and menus and snapping should be faster and cleaner. The game should feel smoother and faster. If not, this won’t help you because your CPU is already overwhelmed.

This has to be done every time you want to do it. Below is a YT vid on how to do it permanently for those comfortable with editing your registry.

There are probably better videos, I just found the first one that came up and saw it was correct and understandable.

The exe you want to boost is Cities2.exe
