I like to use strafe heavily to circling around the ship while my gun pointing towards it. It’s not as safe as hit&run tactics but very fun and satisfying when it’s done right.

Player with game pad or Steam Deck like me have to add another “gun/missile” button so that you can shoot while strafing with my right stick.

Aces

Do not go toe-to-toe with Aces unless you have both Vector and G-Suit. Even with the recent maneuverability changes, they can still out fly you if you are missing either of those upgrades.

• If you have Vector and G-Suit, strafe and run them down in close quarters and pray that they do not point-blank missile you.
• If you don’t have those upgrades and/or would prefer the easier/safer option, get distance on them and joust them with guns only.

Both Wing Leaders and Interceptors will actively avoid missiles, and Wing Leaders can easily avoid missiles while hovering. I’ve seen Wing Leaders actively not start hovering when they normally would, apparently because I had a missile chasing them.
