Tips to Beat Solemn Tempest Tips
The thing that has helped me improve the most is just trusting the ice axes more. Like, on most of the massive gaps (both horizontal and vertical) where you can see ice and handholds on the other side.
I pretty much always go for the ice now. The patches of ice are always bigger than the holds, so you don’t need to be nearly as precise.
As long as just one of the axes hits blue, you’re safe. It’s given me the confidence to try more ridiculous crampon jumps whenever I see a potential shortcut.
Pick up ropes as you put them down to reuse with the safety harness but at this point you prob know to do this. Biggest tip would be pick up the little save station before you head up the mountain when I completed it I ran by it and kicked myself for not being able to save the entire way up.
There is a couple points where the path that branches off can lead to dead ends. I won’t spoil but knowing this helps so you know to backtrack.
When you think you see the top of the mountain… you will be wrong a handful of times so conserve your ropes. Good luck and happy climbing!
