I finish the training mission, and then the game crashes right around the time Tygan speaks the phrase “atrophy” in the cinematic where they’re wheeling the commander to the lab. It will occasionally display a message instructing me to upload a log dump, it will occasionally freeze, and occasionally it will simply display a blank screen, needing me to restart my computer. So I found the solution!
How to Fix Game Crashes
- Step #1: Delete everything in here:
- My Games\XCOM2\XComGame\Config
- My Games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\Config
- Step #2: Validate the local game files in Steam. Right click on the game. Select Properties from the revealed context menu. Switch over to the Local files tab. Click the following option: Verify integrity of game files.
- Step #3: Play the game!
