Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus – Useful Tips and Tricks

Helpful Tips and Tricks for New Players

General Advice:

  • Get yourself Isabella. You can do so not buying Yarrick as you join the game, the next day Isabella will be offered. She is an invaluable asset.
  • Use Tacticus Planner. It will help you organise mentally your path to success and have every piece fall in perfectly like a Tetris game.
  • Join the best raid-oriented guild you can and that is willing to recruit new players. The rewards given by raids are extremely precious.
  • Use the daily Ads wisely. The first to get extra energy, the second to refresh the Guild Shop once you bought what you need from there (in case you want more of that) and the same applies for the War Shop right after that.
  • All the rest shall be used on the daily shop.
  • Don´t rush towards the enemy if you dont have to. Consult the danger zone mapmode and stay away from the enemy, so they have to come to you and ideally wont shoot you too much. Make use of your overwatch characters and erode enemy´s hp that way
  • Try to only use 10 requisition at once, for better chances (You can buy 1 requisition for 300 blackstone).
  • 50 blackstone for energy is a great price, 110 not so much, unless youre rushing some missions.

Campaigns:

  • Complete new campaign missions on Saturdays, that will double your gold income (this includes those 5.000 coins that some Elite missions give as “Starred” rewards).
  • Challenge Bosses when you have a lot of energy, so that you can start the mission (it only lasts 24h!) that will begin after each boss’ defeat with a lot of ammo in your magazine. They all give a precious requisition scroll.
  • Mainly push the three mandatory characters, they will always be used whether you want them or not. Having one of them underleveled hinders your chances to get 3 stars from each missions, being the first that will be targeted by the enemy.
  • Roster:
  • Grow a roster wide, then tall, then wide and tall. Get your needed units (see Campaigns section) to complete most of the Elite campaigns, then pick one of the three Meta Raid teams and stick to one. Get it to D3 and be helpful to your guild, once your part is being done consistently, you’ll be able to chase whatever goal you wish (be it a wide roster for war; another Raid team; your favourite factions to D3)

Arena Battles:

  • Never make your first move within range of your opponents characters move spaces.
  • Stay out of reach but have your characters with the ability “Overwatch” upfront. Once the AI moves the opponent characters, they’ll most likely get caught by your characters ability and could eliminate one or more of your opponents players quickly.

Early Game (1-10)

At the beginning, your two priorities should be unlocking more campaign missions and investing into your initial characters. A strong foundation of multiple resource nodes and a good initial fighting team goes a long way in setting you up for the rest of the game.

Mid Game (11-30)

  • After initial progress you should now start to unlock a lot of characters from both campaign and mission progressions as well as requisition drops (always do 10x requisition pulls on my opinion).
  • Select noteworthy characters, either the ones you prefer or the meta characters, whom you can research and ask community members for info and opinions about, and begin to invest heavily into them via onslaught and rank progressions. This will let you outscale the early to mid game (levels 15-30) and thereby unlock rewards and higher tiers, and therefore better compensation, than what is otherwise available along normal progression paths. Shoot for gold 1 if you can, as that is usually attainable even at earlier game stages and is a good stopping point to min/max resources spent to event effectiveness in your long run.

Late Game (31+)

  • At this point you should have a good feel for the game. Where you go from here is up to you, but a few things to keep in mind will be listed below as you go on your journey
  • Don’t forget to progress your campaigns. Often when grinding characters to higher levels you can forget to also put energy into completing campaigns. This is vital for unlocking additional resource nodes, characters, and, most importantly, profile banners.
  • Save Blackstone for Hero Release Events (HREs) so that you can buy additional energy everyday to progress faster and more efficiently.
  • Interact with the community. Everything you’ll need to know and more will be happily told to you by most members playing this game. We can save you from all of our bad mistakes. (RIP my G2 Tjarik, you have not been as useful as I had hoped).

Quick Tips:

  • In the beginning, foucs on core chars of campain, finish as much campain and do as much elite campain as possible.
  • Highly recommend these core chars to rank up to diamond because they can use everywhere like Arena, LRE, GW, GR: Bellator, Alep, Abrax, Eldryon, Ra, Calandis.
  • For LRE and GW, combo like Revas + Alep, Rot+ Maladus, Isabella + tankers (highly recommend Gravis armor, terminators, resient chars), Tyrant Guard+ other are very good.
  • Buy books in Guild shop early, buy as much as you can. you will need them in the future, reading is never enough.
  • Daily Deal, recommend buy common, uncommon, rare as much with gold. Epic and legenday only if you have a lot of gold. This is only way you convert gold to enegry. I think it worth it.
  • Only using blackstone for refresh. In the beginning 50bs referesh is enough. it is just enough for f2p to refesh 50bs. So participate in contest here to get 300 bs (like I do now).
  • This game is a long long marathon!

If you want to be non-casual:

  • Focus on 1-2 game modes you like. E.g. Tournament arena, Guild raids, Guild war, Normal arena, Legendary char release events.
  • Select chars and target rank on tacticus planner apl.
  • Input inventory mamually and camapigns you have unlocked.
    • Follow “daily raids” to farm the most efficiently.
  • Energy is the most important resource:
    • Don’t waste on farming shards unless using on elite missions (better drop rates).
    • Mirror campaign missiosn have better drop rates.

Understand the impact of placing correctly your characters. It is getting very important with understanding the abilities and the value that you get from investing in them. Eldyrion (which is often recommended character) is a good example here. First you put him to have as many enemy characters exactly 2 hexes from him. Then you place other characters that are able to attack those enemies bearing in mind their abilities as well (e.g aethana bringing more crit chance to you characters that are within 2 hexes). And then you start unleashing the attack withe the bonuses included. Knowing and understanding that can help to decide into which abilities it is worth to invest priceless ability badges.

I turned my love for games from a hobby into a job back in 2005, since then working on various gaming / entertainment websites. But in 2016 I finally created my first website about video games – Gameplay Tips. And exactly 4 years later, Game Cheat Codes was created – my second website dedicated to legal game cheats. My experience with games started back in 1994 with the Metal Mutant game on ZX Spectrum computer. And since then, I’ve been playing on anything from consoles, to mobile devices.

  2. Remember to use your character abilities and passives here are some to look out for
Vindicitas fire pf absolution, it makes a 1hex fire around the targeted enemy, and hits more enemys but also your own units
Incius’s passive allows him to heal an adjacent unit when he or she dies with a 90% chance, if they are not mechanical
Makhotep (or whatever it is) gives all adjacent friendly units 1 + movement at the start with of a match
Got a couple other tips that arent abt passives.
Charging is moving into melee range, and attacking normally dealing extra dmg
Remember to join a guild, even if you can’t help, the extra rewards make it worthwhile
Test out a variety of characters and combine abilities to make your own dream team, perfect for you

  3. Save Blackstone for Energy Refils for the Character Unlock Events

Plan for the Character Unlock Events – ie look at the missions and work though the missions until you hit a blocker

Don’t worry about the game as a whole if your playing the game to have fun then work on the characters that you enjoy don’t get sucked into the meta of needing xyz these will all come with time and development in the game.

Enjoy the game and remember your limits to when you can and cannot do things
