Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt – Optimal FPS Guide

As i have seen quite a few posts around here that the game runs badly (which it did for me before as well) i figured i would just share my settings here. Hopefully it will help some people get a bit more stable FPS. Extra to note this isnt a optimal FPS guide, but me basically finding the settings that work for me personally. Results may vary.

How to Stable FPS

First and foremost though nvidia has released a driver update that specifically mentioned bloodhunt so be sure to update that first.

Also i start the game in DX11 compatibility mode as it seems that fixed my stuttering near the red fog and other parts of town for some reason.

First the normal settings

  • Display: fullscreen
  • Resolution: 2560 x 1440 (this should be your native resolution of course)
  • Enable f-sync: off
  • Frame rate limit: 120 (depends on what you can handle put it to 90 or 60 if its too high)
  • Frame rate smoothing: off
  • Brightness: Whatever you desire
  • AMD FSR 1.0: off (i have a nvidia so this doesnt do too much for me)
  • Resolution scale: 100%

Advanced settings

  • Quality preset: Custom (this will change on its own once you start changing settings)
  • View distance: Ultra
  • Material quality: medium
  • Texture quality: medium
  • Texture filtering: 8x
  • Effects: medium
  • Foliage: off
  • Lightning quality: medium
  • Volumetric fog quality: off
  • Ambient occlusion: medium
  • Screen space reflection: off
  • Shadow quality: medium
  • Anti-Aliasing: TAA
  • Subsurface scattering: off
  • Motion blur: off
  • Chromatic aberration: off
  • Film grain: off
  • Bloom: off
  • Lens flare: off
  • Light shafts: off

As said before though DX11 compatibility fixed most of my hard stuttering and these settings basically made it completely smooth.

  • RTX2060
  • i7-6700k
  • 16gb RAM
