The Last Starship – Resources Guide

CO2

CO2, also called carbon dioxide, is a grey gas which is transportable via pipes. It is produced when the population consume oxygen in the atmosphere.

CO2 is a danger to the population, high c02 causes suffocation if the crew is not in space suits, and can suffocate passengers. The atmosphere must be rich in oxygen and poor in CO2 for long term survival.

CO2 can be removed from the atmosphere using CO2 scrubbers. CO2 can be reprocessed into oxygen using an air reprocessor.

Compost

Compost is a black solid. Compost is created when a waste treatment machine is supplied with sewage and power.

Compost currently has no use, although it can be sold to traders in stacks of 100.

Given the real life use of compost, it will likely be involved in the food production chain in a future update.

Deuterium

Deuterium is a dark blue liquid that is used as the fuel in a fusion reactor.

It is purchasable via trade, and can be piped and stored in tanks.

Food

Food is a green solid. Food can be purchased from traders or salvaged by logistics drones. Each container holds 100 units

Food is a life requirement for the population, and must be present on the ship for long term survival.

Food is consumed by the population at a rate of 4 per cycle per individual.

Unlike the other life requirements water and oxygen, there is currently no way to generate or recycle food, and can only be purchased or salvaged.

FTL Charge

FTL Charge is a green solid. FTL charge can be purchased from traders or salvaged by logistics drones. FTL charge is necessary for a ship to perform an FTL jump.

FTL charge is consumed by a FTL Drive at a rate of one stack of 100 FTL charge per FTL jump. FTL charge is automatically placed in the FTL drive by crew members when needed.

Fuel

Fuel is a yellow liquid, transportable via pipes. Canisters of fuel can be purchased from traders or salvaged by logistics drones. Crew members will transfer the fuel to pipes and objects via a loader. It can be stored in tanks, and is needed for reactors and engines to function.

Each canister contains 1,000 units of fuel

Contracts to extract and deliver tillium ore specify it is refined into fuel.

Ice

Ice is a resource harvested from Ice Comets, which randomly occur in systems.

They are mined via Mining Laser to produce Ice, which is harvested via logistics drones. Ice is then processed in an Ice Grinder into Waste Water. The only purpose of ice is to produce water. It cannot be sold.

Ice stacks up to 30.

Ingot

Ingots are the processed form of some Ores, and are created using a smelter. Currently, the only use for ingots is to be sold to traders.

Scrap Metal

Scrap Metal can be converted to Metal Ingots, which sells for 400 compared to Scrap Metal’s 200.

Metal

Metal is a Resource that currently can only be sold to traders.

Scrap Metal

Scrap metal is gained from salvaging the wrecks of ships with Logistics Drones. It can be smelted to Metal Ingots. They are worth 200 or sold for 100 per stack. Each stack is 20.

Precious Metal

Precious Metals can be salvaged from the wreck of ships with Logistics Drones. It can also be smelted from Precious Ore. They sell for 10,000 or 11,000 per stack.

Ore

Ore is a resource that can be mined from Asteroids by using Mining Lasers, and Logistics Drones to collect the Ore. They currently serve three purposes: selling to traders, completion of Contracts, and smelting to Ingots.

Precious Ore

Precious Ore can be mined outside of Contracts at any time from Asteroids, and can be smelted into Precious Metal. It sells for 2,100 or 2,200 per stack and stacks to 20.

Tilium Ore

Tilium Ore only appears during Contracts to extract it. However, it can continue to be mined beyond the delivery amount. Tilium Ore will eventually be refinable into FTL Charges.[1] Tilium ore can be refined via a smelter into Refined Tilium. It stacks to 30.

Oxygen

Oxygen is a light blue gas transportable via pipes. Canisters of oxygen can be purchased from traders or salvaged by logistics drones. Each canister contains 1,000 units

Oxygen is a life requirement for the population. The atmosphere must be rich in oxygen and poor in CO2 for long term survival.

Oxygen is added to the atmosphere by an airduct connected to an oxygen supply. Oxygen can be added to pipes using Loaders, created using an oxygen maker, reprocessed with an air reprocessor and CO2 scrubber, or supplied via an existing tank.

Power

Power is a special resource which is transmitted through Cables and measured in MW. Power is required to use most equipment, and is therefore one of the most important resources in the game.

Power is usually created by supplying a Reactor with Fuel or by supplying a Fusion Reactor with Deuterium, but it can also be transmitted to cables using a Generator supplied with Energy Cells. It can be stored using Batteries, up to 1000 MW per battery.

Power consumption on a ship can be managed in the Powergrid screen and adjusted by left- and right-clicking on each category.

Sewage

Sewage is a grey liquid, transportable via pipes. Sewage is created when the population consumes water and food. It is a danger to the population and must be removed form the habitation deck for long-term survival.

Sewage can be removed from the habitation deck via a sewage pipe, which can be connected to a tank or reprocessed in a waste treatment machine. This creates waste water and compost.

Waste Water

Waste Water is a brown liquid, transportable via pipes. Waste water is produced when a waste treatment machine is provided with sewage and power.

Waste water can be converted into water using a water purifier.

Water

Water is a dark blue liquid, transportable via pipes. Canisters of water can be purchased from traders or salvaged by logistics drones. Each canister contains 1,000 units.

Water is a life requirement for the population, and must be present on the ship for long term survival.

The population will consume water that is in canisters or in tanks at a rate of 4 per cycle per individual. Water can be transferred to pipes and objects via a loader.

In addition to consumption by the population, water can be used to generate oxygen using an oxygen maker.

Water can be reprocessed from sewage by connecting a sewage pipe to a waste treatment machine, and then to a water purifier and connecting them all to a power source.

I turned my love for games from a hobby into a job back in 2005, since then working on various gaming / entertainment websites. But in 2016 I finally created my first website about video games – Gameplay Tips. And exactly 4 years later, Game Cheat Codes was created – my second website dedicated to legal game cheats. My experience with games started back in 1994 with the Metal Mutant game on ZX Spectrum computer. And since then, I’ve been playing on anything from consoles, to mobile devices.
