The Forest – Cheat Codes (Console Commands)

Console commands allows you to change, add, remove things in the games without the use of mods. These are also known as cheats by some players.

I will show you how to access the console, some useful codes, and the identifying numbers for almost all the items.

How to Activate Console

Go to Options > Gameplay > Set Allow Cheats to On. Than type developermodeon in the main menu and press F1 to see if it’s working.

Popular Cheats

• godmode on / off – No damage, unlimited stamina, fullness, water, energy etc.
• addallitems – Add all items, except story items. Use twice to fill inventory storage bags such as stick bags etc.
• addallstoryitems – Adds all story items, such as keycards.
• itemhack on / off – Never run out of items, must have the item in the first place.
• killallenemies – Kills all cannibals and mutants in the game, they will respawn though.
• killendboss – Kills End Boss.
• faststart on / off – Skips the plane crash.
• save – Saves the game, no matter where you are in the world.
• buildermode on / off – Turns on buildhack, turns on godmode, turns off survival mode, adds all items (not story items), and turns enemies off.
• buildhack on / off – Allows building like Creative Mode. Unlimited resources and building super fast.
• cavelight on / off – Increases the light while in a cave. Basically daylight inside the caves.
• survival on / off – No need to eat, drink etc.
• additem 77 – Adds a live rabbit to the players hand. Can be placed inside a rabbit cage.
• spawnallpickups – Respawns all items that have been collected.
• invisible on / off – Makes it so you can walk/run underwater like its air, disables swimming effects water lighting texture effects and washing of blood, paint & mud.
• veganmode on / off – Enemies will only appear in caves.
• enemies on / off – Turns enemies on or off, cannibals and mutants.
• forcerain heavy – Changes weather to heavy rain, useful for filling up water collectors.
• forcerain sunny – Changes weather to sunny, useful for stopping bad weather.
• cutdowntrees 10 – 10 will cut down 10 trees, choose any number.
• cutdowntrees 100% – 100% will cut down all trees, choose any percentage.
• cutgrass 10 – Cut grass in a 10 radius around player, choose any number.
• speedyrun on / off – Fast run, you get a lot of air time.

Animals / Enemies Cheats

• killallanimals – Kills all enemies in the game. They will still respawn.
• killclosestanimal – Kills the closest animal to the player.
• animals on / off – Turns animals on / off.
• birds on / off – Turns birds on / off.
• spawnanimal quiet – Spawns a trapped animal if an animal trap is nearby.
• resetallenemies – Resets AI and kills all enemies.
• spawnregularfamily – Spawns 3-6 regular cannibals.
• spawnpaintedfamily – Spawns 3-6 painted cannibals.
• spawnskinnedfamily – Spawns 3-6 skinned cannibals.
• spawnskinnyfamily – Spawns 3-6 skinny cannibals.

How to spawn animals or enemies?

• spawnanimal [name] – Insert the name of the animal you wish to spawn.
• spawnmutant [name] – Insert the name of the mutant you wish to spawn.

Environmental / Weather Cheats

• terrainreader on / off – Turns on or off terrain.
• advanceday – Skips one day ahead.
• plantallgardens – Plants all gardens and returns the amount of gardens.
• growalldirtpiles – Grows dirt piles within gardens.
• setcurrentday # – Changes the day depending on amount (1-100 scale).
• timescale # – Changes the speed of the day.
• gametimesacle # – Changes speed of hunger, energy, and thirst.
• cutdowntrees # – Cuts down trees equal to amount input.
• cutdowntrees #% – Cuts down trees equal to percentage.
• cutgrass # – Cuts grass in a small radius around player.
• checkday – Checks the time of day.

How to change weather?

• forcerain light – Changes weather to light rain.
• forcerain medium – Changes weather to medium rain.
• forcerain heavy – Changes weather to heavy rain.
• forcerain cloud – Changes weather to cloudy.
• forcerain sunny – Changes weather to sunny.

How to Use Goto Command

• Goto [coordinates]

Goto 770, 99, 153. Separate x, y, and z coordinates with a comma.

If you want to know your own coordinates, press F2 and look at the top-center of your screen. You should see several statistics, but down near the bottom-left of that screen you should also see x, y, and z coordinates.

This command allows you to utilize the coordinates the player is at in order to teleport there immediately. While there are specific names for certain areas (ex: sinkhole), it’ll be easier to travel by way of X, Y, and Z coordinates.
