Rune Guide
SPD: A rune which has the potential to roll higher than 20, should always be rolled, even if the [4][6] is a flat stat, don’t insta sell a 5* legendary with a spd substat or a purple [6] flat DEF with 4 base speed.
There will be battles in which you NEED to move first, and if you lose out on these free upgrades, you will end up wasting great runes on monsters that do not need the stats. For example a [4] HP% with 20 SPD on a Konamiya when you could’ve given Konamiya the [4] flat DEF with 20 spd, and give the [4] HP% to Chloe/Imesety, as they also need to survive past the first turn.
PvE: Runes that don’t require high substat rolls, as PvE works on a “get higher than the minimum stats”
PvP: Runes that require to have substats that rolled preferably higher than average, seeing as you will be using them in PvP against others, you don’t want to lose a battle because you forced a Nemesis set on your ariel when you have Energy runes that would make him far more tankier.
Giants
- Swift PvE & PvP
- Supports: SPD/DEF/HP/ACC
- Attackers: SPD/CR/CD/ATK
- Bombers: SPD/ATK/HP/ACC
- You don’t need crazy SPD substats to be faster than the enemy if you run swift.
Examples:
Spectra, has 126 base speed, with a swift rune & [2] SPD he has 199 SPD. so his other runes don’t need spd substats. Loren who wants to be around 200-220 spd for PvE, with a swift rune & [2] SPD she has 169 SPD, so her 5 other runes need ~10 SPD to reach 220.
The more units you have runed up, the more strict you want to be with how much SPD you accept on a rune. 16 SPD per rune = means that a 100 spd unit will have 247 SPD, This will be enough speed to outspeed most non spd comps in guild wars/siege. Think Imesety/Chloe/Konamiya for beginner siege/guild war.
- Fatal PvE & PvP
- Attackers: SPD/CR/CD/ATK
- Bombers: SPD/ATK/HP/ACC
- Kaki: SPD/HP/ATK/DEF
- Note: Flat ATK is good to have to maximize damage.
- Blade PvE & PvP
- ATK Attackers: SPD/CR/CD/ATK
- DEF Attackers: DEF/CR/CD
- Note: Flat ATK is good to have to maximize damage.
- Same goes for flat DEF for copper/dozer
- Energy PvE
- Tanks: HP/DEF/RES
- Supports: SPD/HP/DEF
- When you’ve just began farming giants, it can be useful to keep attack based energy runes to help with reaching the tankiness for gb12 while not losing too much damage
- Attacker: SPD/CR/CD/ATK/HP
- Do note that: This is a mainly a pve runeset
- Despair PvE & PvP
- Supports: SPD/HP/DEF/ACC
- Antares: CR/CD/ATK/HP/SPD
- Juno: SPD/CR/ACC/HP/DEF
You will not be running a lot of units on despair, so unless the despair rune is really good, chances are that you wont end up using it.
Dragons
- Violent PvP
- RES Supports: SPD/DEF/HP + ACC or RES
- Bruiser: SPD/DEF/HP/ATK/CR
- For Violent, I also suggest keeping runes that synergize with each other
- Guard PvE & PvP
- TrIcaru: DEF/SPD/ACC/ATK/CR
- DEF Attackers: CR/CD/DEF
- Tank: DEF/HP/RES
- Disclaimer: It’s easier to get a determination TrIcaru set up than a guard one. However once you can farm with a determination set, guard sets are a good way to naturally improve your TrIcaru.
- Note: Flat DEF is a good substat for copper/dozer
- Shield PvP
- Attackers: ATK/CR/CD/SPD/HP
- Supports: SPD/HP/DEF, +ACC or RES
- Extra: SPD/ACC/CR/HP
- An example of extra refers is a 100% CR 85% acc Galleon build.
- Focus PvE
- Supports: SPD/HP/DEF, +ACC or RES
- Focus is mainly used in PvE, it’s also one of the most useless sets.
- Endure PvP
- Supports: SPD/HP/DEF, +ACC or RES
- Tank: DEF/HP/RES
- Revenge PvP
- Supports: SPD/HP/DEF, +ACC or RES
- Bruiser: SPD/DEF/HP/ATK/CR
Necro
- Rage. PvE & PvP
- ATK Attackers SPD/CR/CD/ATK
- DEF Attackers: DEF/CR/CD
- Fat Attackers: ATK/CR/CD
- Note: By the time you can farm Necro, you already have quality Fatal. So be more strict on the Rage runes that you keep.
- Note: Flat ATK is good to have to maximize damage.
- Same goes for flat DEF for copper/dozer
- Vampire PvP
- ATK Attackers: SPD/CR/CD/ATK/HP
- DEF Attackers: SPD/CR/CD/DEF
- Bruiser: SPD/DEF/HP/ATK/CR
- Skogul: SPD/HP/DEF/RES
- Astar: SPD/CR/CD/ATK
- Leo: CR/CD/ATK/ACC/HP
- Will PvE & PvP
- ATK Attackers: SPD/CR/CD/ATK/HP
- Bruiser: SPD/DEF/HP/ATK/CR
- DEF Attackers: SPD/CR/CD/DEF
- Supports: SPD/DEF/HP + ACC or RES
- Tanks: HP/DEF/RES
- Nemesis PvP
- Supports: SPD/DEF/HP/RES
- This set isn’t used a lot.
- Only keep high HP/SPD/DEF nemesis runes, as they’re used on support units. If you do get a damage dealer set, make sure it’s above average in substat quality.
- Destroy PvP
- Bruiser: SPD/DEF/HP/ATK/CR
- Supports: SPD/DEF/HP + ACC or RES
- Tanks: HP/DEF/RES
Rift Beasts
- Fight PvP & PvE
- Support: SPD
- Cleave Support: SPD/HP/DEF/ACC/RES
- PvE: whatever.
For supports, these will be used on atb boosters, their primary job is to move first, why swift/will. Cleave Support: You don’t need a lot of spd, you want spd to not be lapped in battles, these units are often on 85% acc with the rest of the stats going to spd/hp/def. For PvE, This goes on pretty much every unit build for rift beasts. For example a Mav/Eirgar only rift beast build. For BJ5, we want the rune set, and not the rune stats, so 1-4* runes are fine.
Enhance, Accuracy & Tolerance.
Feel free to be very strict on these as they’re barely utilized, think of them as broken runes that need good substat synergy and rolls. Arguments can be made for an accuracy set for dungeon teams such as icaru.
I appreciate your time and hope this little tutorial was helpful.
