Idle Huntress – Relevant Support Characters Guide

Exploration of Support Characters

Since team composition is very important in IH, I wanted to talk about the varieties of support units you can slot in to improve your team’s efficiency. Supports in this game tend to do a lot of different things, so I’ll try to separate them into archetypes.

For the purposes of this guide, healing and debuff removal are not going to be considered a support function, and a small ATK boost will be ignored if that is the only thing they grant.

Element Specific Supports:

  • Earth: Mobius provides attack and frost resistance to all earth units with her realm.
  • Water: Catherine grants 50 Crit Rate to all water units as long as she’s alive.
  • Fire:
    • Prometheus can grant Wind dmg resist and Wind dmg bonus to Fire units.
    • Takeda can grant ATK to Fire allies with her realm.

Team Wide Stat Supports:

  • Honoka: Only available from the DOA collab event, Honoka’s EE can grant massive Crit Rate to the entire team.
  • Darwin: Can grant a persistent buff of over 200% Attack to the whole team, and her turtles can reduce DEF of enemy units.
  • Don Quixote: Can grant 200% permanent ATK to the whole team after being attacked enough.
  • Takeda: Can grant Crit Rate and Crit Damage to the entire team with her realm.
  • Raphael: Can grant permanent ATK to allies on ally death with EE.
  • Mendel: Her trees can grant a variety of powerful stats to adjacent allies.
  • Beethoven: Her awakening skill can grant a large ATK boost for the start of the battle.
  • The Twins: Da Qiao & Xiao Qiao: Grant a large ATK boost with their skill and Final Damage and Speed with Ult. Their EE can also grant teamwide stats.
  • Honda Tadakatsu: Her EE can grant a massive DEF boost for the early turns.
  • Robin Hood: Her EE can grant a massive HIT boost for the entire team.

Single Target Stat Supports:

  • Medea: Grants a huge stat bonus and extra action economy to a single unit with her Ult, and also some extra stats with her skill. The Ult also can grant debuff immunity.
  • Zhen Ji: Grants a large ATK boost as well as another Ult activation to a single unit.
  • Copernicus: Grants up to 40 Hit, Crit, and Final Damage Reduce with her ultimate as well as debuff immunity for 2 turns, great for pushing crit rate but will stun the target after the effects wear off.
  • Beethoven: Her Ult can grant Growing Climax to up to 2 allies, causing them to Ult an extra time. Right now I believe this is bugged, as Growing Climax seems to never be placed on units at the moment.

So then, with all of this knowledge, what is the general strategy for running supports with your comp? Well, it depends on where you’re at and who you have, but I’ll try to give a good idea for what you’re looking for in a bossing team.

  1. Run supports that give different bonuses
    • Since different stats are multiplicative, it’s generally better to do this.
    • For example, Darwin and Don Quixote together is generally weaker since they both only grant ATK.
  1. If you have Honoka, use her.
    • Honoka EE is possible now with L/D omni shards, and can grant all the Crit Rate you need.
  1. 4 Supports, 1 carry.
    • This is more of what the game looks like down the line, but putting all your power on 1 unit and supporting them tends to be more efficient than running another carry.
  1. Speed ordering.
    • Make sure your supports are faster than your carry, as their bonuses only matter if the carry uses them.
  1. Increase DPS action economy.
    • Characters like Medea and Zhen can grant your carry extra actions, which can multiply damage output outside of pure stat bonuses.
    • This is less important for characters with extra actions like Huang Zhong.

A great example team in this case is the following: Moe Iori, Darwin or Quixote, Honoka, Medea, Zhen Ji.

This team provides a large number and variety of stats to Iori, as well as the best chances of triggering the maximum number of actions each round.

I appreciate your time and hope this little tutorial was helpful.
