Understanding Lan Hua Guide
By Kaiton.
Lan Hua is the dealer banner. Is she stronger than ungula?
TL/DR:
Yes, she’s stronger than ungula at same level. In real test, she deals about 1.33x more dmg than ungula at same level. However, she’s “melee” which means she can get killed by bosses that do aoe normal attacks (e.g. stage 33 boss); whereas, ungula can survive due to being “ranged”.
For bosses that she can survive, lan hua is the new dps queen. She’s much harder to use than Bjorn due to needing to stay alive to deal dmg over time.
Active Skill:
Lan Hua summons swords that do attacks continuously. These swords can do up to 5 hits within ruin’s buff, but if you use gildong, they can do up to 6 hits due to atk spd buff. Also, gildong’s cool down is shorter if u use his ex, so lan hua could actually get in about 3 more hits on gildong’s second cast; whereas ruin would still be on cooldown. In short, using gildong with lan hua is better than using ruin (also note that ruin is nerfed by being additive with mael currently).
But the best results come from using both ruin and gildong together. Gildong’s buff applies first instantly then ruin’s buff applies later and Lan Hua’s continuous attacks benefit fully from this long buff duration.
How I did my test:
- I equipped both ungula and lan hua with lv50 ex and same trinket and 1 rune.
- Team tested: violet, mael, ungula/lan hua, gildong, ruin, valentine.
- Perform real dmg tests, and then I scale lan hua up to same level as ungu (atk mult and trans) and compare dmg.
Where’s Lan Hua Useful and Should I Pull Her?
- Lan Hua is not useful in farming as the flying swords deal single target dmg only (not aoe).
- Lan Hua is useful in bosses that do normal attacks on single frontline units only (e.g. stage 37 boss). Strangely, in my testing she somehow survives stage 98 boss while ungula can’t.
- You should pull her if you don’t already have a very strong ungula (i.e. new players).
