Quick Guide on How to Play Fighter
I mainly play fighter, I’ve played lots of solo, duo, and trios. Heirlooms I use 2h sword, pants/crown (team v solo) and moon pendant. On the heirlooms I use +weapon dmg and Max Life Stacks (extremely op if you can get 20ish stacks).
So far I have found that I like to have mace and shield and 2h sword. With the heirloom sword and green shield/mace you can almost have both str and stam passives. I use whirlwind for solos and team fights, but mainly only use it on the squishys on solo, I will try not to use it on other tanks when solo if they can block.
Team fights its obvious to have the whirl, and I usually try to move past the front line of the enemy and whirl on the casters in the back and if they get out of range of the whirl while im spinning I use charge to get back on top of them (this creates chaos and usually ends up with easy picks as my teammates easily take the frontline down with slows and burst dmg allowing me to either completely remove enemy casters out of the fight or enough chaos to where my casters can pick them off with distance.)
Once you start getting into gear sets, look towards dragon scale, this allows you to be hit without taking dmg for 3 hits. Allowing yourself to get into the backline with taking little to no dmg. Idk if this will help, but these are things that have improved my fighter experience so far.
Update dual swords might be the play instead of mace/shield.
General Tips
I’d build for max dmg on kill and on life stacks where you can. With three heirlooms, you should get 12 stacks of each. Your third slot should be +movement speed because you need to keep up with the other classes that outrun you.
I run the stamina necklace with +6 strength, two-handed sword, and chest piece. With this combo, you only need a green strength ring and a green stamina ring to get both bonuses. Getting your first strength bonus and your 200 shield is crucial.
If you’re getting the drop on someone and they don’t know you’re coming, always whirlwind them. Most panic, and even good players already take at least a few swings of damage before they realize what’s happening. Sometimes I will use the charge while whirlwinding to get ahead of the other players while they’re running away so they end up running into it more. Just adds to their confusion. This is also good if they’re blocking or using a shield; you can sometimes get behind them and they miss a few blocks.
After that, I usually go hard on the offense. They’re panicked and have little time to think. Keep the pressure. Most people try to run. Bring thunder clap and be ready. They’ll try to thunderclap you too. Usually, the fight ends by then.
If you’re in a fair fight, however, hold off using any abilities. Take your time. With the 12 stacks of life, you should be between 1100-1400 health with your basic items, depending on if you’re wearing any extra greens or blues or purples. Bait out all their attacks.
When a pyro casts his fire circle thing, you can use charge to cancel the knockback. He’s finished after that. When a Druid uses his little sword AOE, use your charge to run away. Same with deathknight. In fair fights, your charge is always used after someone uses their skill, to either close the gap or build distance and wait them out.
Most classes are dependent on their abilities. Fighters are just a tank, and when there are no abilities left for either side, he’s just gonna win the long fight of beating each other with sticks.
Closing the gap on cryo is tricky. Thunderclaps are needed, and you’ll have to bait out his iceheal ability. After that, you can just whirlwind the moment he comes out of it and win. I even whirlwind a little earlier because the first swing takes half a second to start up.
Unfortunately, as of right now, DK with life on hit is really difficult to deal with as a fighter. Even after he finishes his abilities, the mace and shield combo has been difficult to fight. Have not found a good strat for them yet. However, death knights are slower than you are, so it’s really easy to just run off and find a better fight.
I have not experimented with purple gear yet. This has all just been heirlooms and basic greens, but fighting at this level has been more enjoyable and less broken builds to deal with. I believe fairy of the lake would be very powerful for fighter because of the close range between you and another player, making the fairy’s journey back to you nonexistent.
I sincerely hope this was helpful. Good luck to you!
