Build Guide: Poison Dart Crit Nixi
I’ve seen builds floating around using the dance of shadows interaction with greed is good to maintain 100%+ crit chance, so I thought i’d take it in a slightly different direction.
The premise of this build is to build up 100% crit chance using greed is good (should take 1 -2 mins. with even just 1 point in greed is good) and then just spam dashes.
Each attack from dance of shadows will procc poison darts, and since you don’t take any other strikes aside from sickles of mort, your poison darts hit insanely hard. I could be wrong on this but I believe poison dart scales with strike dmg% as well as the base atk dmg % scaling it has, so it benefits twice from the T1 strike dmg and atk dmg nodes.
Talents
T1:
Standard for maximizing dmg. rolls can be swapped for something else if you have enough but i like having 12+ rolls
T2:
Shadowshift; obviously essential. since we are not left clicking at all, we only need 1 point because we only care about the duration and cooldown, which don’t improve with levels in the node
T3:
Greed is good; obviously essential. we use this to build up crit chance. just shadowshift through pots for the first couple mins of the run and you’ll have 100% easily
Dirty Tricks; put 5/5 into this for the increased damage. poison darts proc poison on everything around you, so anything you do will benefit from this node
T4:
Dark Alley: not really needed, we’re just taking it for the requirement, and since we don’t have anythign else to put points into on that tier, we can just skill 2/2 for that
Makeshift combat: will add 8% extra atk dmg with synergy from T7 node
T5:
Poison Darts: bread and butter. take all 3 points obviously
Cloak and Dagger: I’ve tested the damage output with variations of putting points into this node as well as Eviscerate, the node next to it, and I’ve found that putting the rest into Cloak and Dagger is the best option. 3/5 points for this one. solid damage
T6:
Swerving Darkness: Absolutely essential. this is what ultimately enables dance of shadows, which is what enables poison darts. it scales very well with points so max this out for sure
T7:
Dance of Shadows: obviously max this out for the shadow attacks. they proc poison darts and sickles of mort which is how you’ll clear your run.
Rogue’s Legacy: put 2 points into this and combined with Makeshift Combat, you are getting +48% attack damage, since we are at 6 strike slots. this number goes up if you have gear with more strike slots as well
T8:
Endless Night: i know some people like Finesse, but i just don’t see it. high rolling Endless Night is too wild to pass up on. i’ve easily had several instances per run where I’ve spent 20+ seconds in shadowshift. I just don’t think it compares at all for the purpose of maximizing dps. this node is the move.
Gear
My priorities for offensive stats are something like this, starting from the most important:
- Attack damage %
- Duration/Power duration (for shadowshift uptime)
- Dash Distance/Dash charges (some boots have both!!)
- Strike damage %
Attack speed and Crit chance is useless so look for these
Uniques
I don’t think any uniques are required for this build, although there’s a Tier 2 called Gibberish which would fit perfectly, but I don’t have it. As long as you can rack up attack damage and duration/power duration, you can pretty much flex to whatever stats you like playing with. poison darts does all the work so play however you want
Gods
Winter Is Love. Winter Is Life.
Winter by far has the most amount of useful blessings, ill list them in order of priority:
Chilling Attack: Dance of shadow hits hard and hits FAST. you can freeze elites almost instantly (especially if you get Chill to the Bone). Other passives below this blessing are just optimal for damage in this order.
Frost Ring: You need this to lockdown the insect mages and bombers. 1 point is good.
- Icebound
- Thaw
- Shatter
- Frostbite
Up next is probably Mort. if you can pick up her sickles, it will be the only other strike you need apart from Darts.
The thing I love most about this build is how flexible the Blessings are. Apart from Winter (and Mort if you want to minmax, but not essential) you can pretty much deviate to whatever you want, as long as you aren’t taking other strikes (it will lower your dps)
- I’ve had runs with Radiance + Fear support
- I’ve had runs with Rock hands support
There are other casts too that can offer support when shadowshift is on cooldown, and the list goes on.
This is the gear I’m running with. As you can see, it’s far from being optimized. The dagger, gloves, torso, and amulet are near perfect i think. however, I still haven’t found a good ring, and I think the boots, jewel, relic, and head could be way better. not sure if there are attack damage%+ belts, but I like Waste because of the master offers. it’s really up to preference tho.
